The K League is back in action with a supermatch.
Suwon Samsung and FC Seoul will meet in the 19th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 at 4:30 p.m. on April 24 at Suwon World Cup Stadium. Suwon currently sits in 12th place with 9 points, 2 wins, 3 draws, 13 losses, and 16 goals for 30 points, while Seoul is in third place with 29 points, 8 wins, 5 draws, and 31 goals for 21 points.
The South Korean national soccer team, coached by Jürgen Klinsmann, completed its June A-match schedule. They faced Peru (0-1 loss) and El Salvador (1-1 draw), but missed out on their first win.
The K League is back in action, starting with the Super League. Before the A-Match break, Suwon had gone five games without a win (one draw and four losses). They failed to get past Ulsan Hyundai (2-3 L), Jeju United (1-2 L), Suwon FC (1-2 L), Gwangju FC (1-2 L), and Incheon United (0-0 draw). Since Kim Byung-soo took over as head coach, the team’s form has improved somewhat, but it has yet to translate into results.
Seoul is also winless in three games (two draws and one loss). They failed to secure a win against Daegu FC (0-1 loss), Incheon (1-1 draw), and Pohang Steelers (1-1 draw). The team’s steep rise to the top of the league has come to a halt. Under Ahn Ik-soo, the team will have to find a way to regain their sagging confidence.
Suwon will be counting on Ahn Byung-jun. He recovered from a groin injury during the break. His decisiveness has been improving lately, so he’ll have a big role to play. Seoul will be looking to Hwang Eui-jo. Following his wonder goal against Pohang, he has also rattled the net for the national team and will be in a special frame of mind, 메이저사이트 especially as this will be his last game for Seoul.
It will be the 101st Super Match in the league. Seoul leads the all-time series with 40 wins, 25 draws, and 35 losses. Their last 10 games have also been strong, with six wins, one draw and three losses. In the first meeting of the season in April, Seoul won 3-1 thanks to goals from Na Sang-ho, Hwang Ui-jo and Palosevic.
Suwon will have plenty of motivation. There’s the ‘first home win’, which they haven’t had since the start of the season, and the ‘escape from the bottom of the table’ through a win over their rivals. At the rate things are going, it could be a repeat of last season’s nightmare. There is no better springboard for a rebound than a supermatch victory.
