Atlantic City might play second fiddle to Las Vegas in terms of its popularity with American gamblers, but the New Jersey casino Mecca has no shortage of fabulous entertainment acts lined up for the remainder of summer 2013. The following list includes eight of the most exciting musical shows and comedy acts scheduled for July and August 2013 in Atlantic City.
July 13: Kansas At The Tropicana
Kansas at The Tropicana Quarter (Saturday, July 13th)Progressive rock band Kansas will perform on Saturday, July 13th at The Quarter, the Tropicana’s entertainment venue. Tickets prices range from $35-$55. Guests will enjoy finely harmonized hits like “Dust in the Wind” and “Carry On, My Wayward Son” in the 200,000 square foot hall. Kansas gained notoriety in the 1970s but continues to be a favorite of old and young listeners alike. 2013 marks the band’s 40-year anniversary.
In addition to the concert, audience members can enjoy some gambling fun on the huge Tropicana floor, go for a meal at one of the resort’s many fine restaurants, or browse any of the casino’s 25 unique shops. July 13: Seth Myers At The Borgata
Comedian Seth MyersComedian Seth Myers will perform on Saturday, July 13th at the Borgata at 9 p.m. Myers got his start on “Saturday Night Live” in 2001, where he was ultimately promoted to co-head writer with Tina Fey. His impersonations of John Kerry, Ryan Seacrest, Kevin Federline, and numerous other celebrities made him a household name in the early 2000s. Along with the stand-up circuit, Myers fills him time making TV and film appearances. In 2014, he will claim Jimmy Fallon’s spot on late night TV with a new show, “Late Night with Seth Myers.”
Myers will perform in the Borgata venue known as “The Music Box.” This 1,000-seat hall is ideal for intimate comedy shows. The Borgata has another venue known as the “Event Center.” This hall holds almost 4,000 patrons and is reserved for shows with larger audiences.
July 19: Lyle Lovett At The Golden Nugget
Country music lovers will experience a musical legend at the Golden Nugget on Friday, July 19th. Singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett is loved by many as both a musician and an actor. His country songs incorporate multiple styles of music, including swing, gospel, and jazz, making him accessible to fans of numerous music genres. Lovett gained notoriety for his two-year marriage to Julia Roberts in the 1990s. The couple met on the set of a movie called “The Player.” Lovett has starred in other movies since this and has even acted at The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles, playing Balthazar in Much Ado About Nothing.
Lovett will play his concert at The Grand, the Golden Nugget’s 17,000 square foot ballroom. The Nugget’s other venue, the Showroom, houses only 500 seats and would not be large enough for the large crowd Lovett is expected to draw.
July 20: Jerry Seinfeld At The Borgata
Jerry Seinfeld at the Borgata (Saturday, July 20th)Beloved comedian Jerry Seinfeld will perform at the Borgata on Saturday, July 20th. Seinfeld began his career as a college-aged stand-up comedian. He created “The Seinfeld Chronicles” with Larry David in 1988; this show later become known as the hit show “Seinfeld.” Seinfeld is known and loved for his quick wit and dry, deadpan humor.
Seinfeld will deliver his routine in the larger of the Borgata’s two venues, the Event Center. At the time of this writing, the concert was already sold out.
August 2-3: Frank Caliendo At The Borgata
Comedian Frank CaliendoComedian Frank Caliendo will perform at the Borgata Music Box on Friday, August 2nd and Saturday, August 3rd. Caliendo gained his fame on the Fox TV show “MADtv,” a program similar to NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” One of his most famous impersonations is that of George Bush. He was a guest star during season 2 of the hit show “Hot in Cleveland,” which features Valerie Bertinelli and the ever-popular Betty White.
August 9: Jeff Foxworthy At Trump Taj Mahal

August 16: American Idol Live Tour At Trump Taj Mahal
American Idol at Trump Taj Mahal (Friday, August 16th)”American Idol” fans will enjoy taking in the hit show’s live tour at Trump Taj Mahal on Friday, August 16th. Atlantic City will be just one of 30 stops on the annual show tour which features the top contestants from the most recent season, including Candace Glover, the 2013 winner of the contest. Although all concerts scheduled before July 19 were cancelled, the Trump Taj Mahal date remains on the books for August. The show will be presented in Trump Taj’s main arena.
