“I thought it was the worst when I got hit, but it was just a bruise, thank God”

Kim Hae-sung swiped at his chest.

The San Diego Padres defeated the Washington Nationals in a Major League Baseball 2023 game at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on May 26. The Padres came from behind to win 8-6 and completed a three-game series against the Nationals with a 2-1 sweep.

Kim was batting seventh in the lineup, but was forced to leave in his first at-bat due to injury. He was hit in the left knee by his own foul pitch, a sinker to the body. Kim went down in pain and was helped off the field.

However, he escaped serious injury. According to MLB.com, manager Bob Melvin said there were no major abnormalities on X-rays and that Kim should avoid a trip to the disabled list. 안전놀이터

“Fortunately, everything was fine,” Kim said, according to MLB.com. They said it was just a bruise,” he said, “but it really hurt. I’ll have to see how I feel tomorrow. It’s a little hard to walk right now.”

“The moment I was hit by the pitch, I thought the worst could happen,” Kim said, “but fortunately, the outcome was better than I expected.”

The fact that Kim avoided a major injury is good news for San Diego. The starting second baseman is currently playing third base with the loss of Manny Machado to injury. If he were to suffer a major injury, San Diego would have a huge hole in their infield. He may not have the speed to hit, but he’s already proven to be a solid defender and is a key part of San Diego’s infield defense.
