Ohtani, no hits in 4 at-bats → 2G consecutive silence… Angels, 7 runs in the 9th inning → End of 5 consecutive wins

Ohtani Shohei (LA Angels) was silent. He failed to reach base for two consecutive games.

On the 7th (Korean time), Ohtani started as the designated hitter in the 2023 major league match against the Texas Rangers held at the Angel Stadium of Angels in Anaheim, California, USA and recorded no hits in 4 at-bats. His batting average dropped from 0.295 to 0.286.

Ohtani entered his first plate at the end of the first inning with one out and first base. He caught and hit Nathan Ivaldi’s 88.5 mph (about 142 km/h) splitter, but he retired with a left field float. In the bottom of the 4th inning, he came out as the lead batter and hit Ivaldi’s 91.9 mph (approximately 147 km/h) cutter, but was out with a ground ball to the second baseman.

Ohtani also came out as the lead batter in the bottom of the 6th inning. He again aimed for Ivaldi’s 90.6 mph (approximately 145 km/h) cutter, but was dismissed with a fly ball to left field. Then, in the bottom of the eighth inning, with no runners out, he came out in the fourth at-bat and was out with a ground ball to the first baseman.

Texas starter Ivaldi recorded 5 hits, 2 walks and 5 strikeouts in 8 innings, winning 4 wins (2 losses) of the season. Following the shutout victory against the New York Yankees on the 30th of last month, another scoreless effort was made.

The Texas lineup scored 3 runs in the top of the 4th inning. In the situation of 1 out and 3 base, Yona Haim took the lead with 1 RBI in a timely manner. Afterwards, with Ezekiel Duran’s straight hit and Leodi Taveras’ hit, he became 2nd, 1st and 2nd base, and added 2 points with Travis Jankaski and Marcus Semien’s consecutive timely hits.

Texas hit a wedge in the top of the ninth. Robbie Grossman’s timely hit came out in a situation with two out and second base. Grossman was replaced by runner Bubba Thompson, and Thompson succeeded in stealing. Then, Nathaniel Lowe’s RBI hit just in time, and pitcher Tucker Davidson’s wild throw advanced Lowe to second base. Again, in the scoring opportunity, Adolis Garcia added 1 point with a timely hit.

Texa continued to take chances. Josh Young’s double hit created a chance for 2nd, 2nd and 3rd base, and Haim’s 2 RBI and timely hit widened the score gap. Then, with a Duran hit and Taveras walk, the bases were loaded with two outs. 안전놀이터

Eventually, the Angels let Davidson down and outfielder Brett Phillips pitched to the mound. However, Yankowski allowed 1 RBI on time and Semien allowed a push walk. Afterwards, he came down from the mound after treating Thompson as a floating ball in center field.

Texas put Jerry Rodriguez on the mound in the bottom of the ninth, leading 10-0. Rodriguez allowed a one-run home run to Brandon Drury after one out, but the game ended without allowing an extra run. The Angels ended their winning streak at five.
